GlobalFoundries is constructing a new fab on its Singapore campus at a cost of US $4 billion or S $5 billion to expand its global manufacturing footprint.

The new facility will be constructed in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board, with resources also pulled from committed customers.
GlobalFoundries expects the facility to help it meet the growing demand of industry-leading manufacturing technologies and services.
The new semiconductor fab will be the most advanced in Singapore and will ramp in 2023. GF’s facility will add a capacity for 450,000 wafers per year, bringing its total at the Singapore campus to about 1.5 million wafers each year.
Global demand for semiconductors is expected to rise 2.1 times in the next eight years opening opportunities for GF.
