Messaging application Telegram has rolled out a feature that would allow users to send and receive cryptocurrencies, as part of The Open Network (TON) official wallet bot.

Telegram said users will be able to send and receive digital tokens through the TON Token, making it the first-ever messaging application which will enable fast and secure cryptocurrency payments.
Users will first have to download and install the wallet bot to avail of the service. This will then allow them to purchase digital tokens through their bank cards, and then transfer or exchange them with other wallets.
Telegram said users will be able to send Bitcoin or Toncoin to other users through the “Wallet” icon in direct messages, with the transactions touted to be nearly instant. They will not have to put in lengthy wallet addresses and await confirmations.
The latest feature is in line with efforts to boost the adoption of cryptocurrency payments and boost the industry across the globe.
