The advance monthly sales in the United States reduced by 1.3% to $620.2 billion in May 2021.

The retail trade sales reduced by 1.7% in May, but the sales were 24.4% compared to the same period in 2020. Clothing and clothing had a positive increase in sales at 200.3%, food services and drinking establishments sales also grew by 70.6%.
The adjusted sales of motor vehicles & parts dealers reduced to $135,979 million in May from $141,222 million in May.
Non-essential businesses such as motor vehicles & parts dealers, furniture stores, building materials, and miscellaneous store retailers recorded decline in sales.
Essential businesses, including health & personal care stores, clothing stores, and food and beverage stores had a slight increase in advanced monthly sales.
