Google and Jio have partnered to develop a budget phone targeting India’s flourishing market for first-time smartphone users.
The 4G smartphone will run a re-engineered version of Android OS.
Alphabet CEO acknowledged the phone as suitable for India and comes with translation features, a voice assistant, and an amazing camera.
Leaders of Google and Jio did not reveal the price for the gadget set to be released into the market on September 10th.
Jio has the highest market share in India, with more than 423 million users of voice and data. The 4G-capable phone is to persuade users of standard phones still in 2G eras to consider a more advanced one.
The collaboration comes a year after Google acquired a $4.5 billion stake in Jio Platforms Ltd.
