Euro area jobless rate fell to 7.2% in November, from 7.3% posted October and close to its pre-pandemic levels.
A year earlier, the unemployment rate was 8.1%, before the rollout of the vaccines that helped the European economy to reopen.
In November, the number of unemployed people dropped by 222,000 in the euro area and by 247,000 in the larger European Union.
That fall still leaves 11.8 million unemployed people in the Eurozone and almost 14 million in the EU.
The spread of the Omicron variant and the introduction of lockdown measures in some EU countries late last month might have slowed down the recovery of the job market.
