Binance said it blocked accounts of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s stepdaughter Polina Kovaleva, and Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov’s daughter Elizaveta Peskova in the past two months.
The exchange said it also banned Kirill Malofeev, the son of tycoon Konstantin Malofeev reported by the US Treasury Department as being a major financing source for Russians who push for separatism in Crimea.
Global Head of Sanctions Chagri Pyraz said the firm is evaluating more accounts that could be associated with sanctioned individuals, noting that it is taking a proactive stance before any sanctions are imposed against the individuals.
Poyraz earlier announced that Binance blocked digital currency exchange Garantex last month, weeks before the entity was zeroed in by the Treasury Office’s Foreign Assets Control.
