Archer Daniels Midland Expands Regenerative Agriculture Program

0

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), the U.S. food processing giant, announced on Tuesday that it will expand its regenerative agriculture program in North America. By the end of this year, the program will cover 2 million acres, with global coverage expected to reach 4 million acres by 2025 as part of ADM’s decarbonization plan.

Re:generations Program Provides Support to Farmers

ADM’s Re:generations program offers financial and technical support to farmers who adopt smart farming practices. In 2022, over 1,900 U.S. producers and more than 1 million acres have already enrolled in the program. The expanded program will be available in 18 states and three Canadian provinces, creating a significant opportunity for agricultural communities across North America.

Financial Incentives for Farmers

Farmers who enroll in the program can receive payments of up to $25 per acre per year. In some cases, additional per bushel premiums for grain delivered to ADM are also available. These incentives aim to encourage widespread adoption of sustainable farming practices and support farmers in making critical changes to reduce their environmental impact.

Streamlining the Enrollment Process

To simplify the enrollment process, ADM will expand the availability of Farmers Business Network’s Gradable digital farm management tool. This tool will assist farmers in navigating the program requirements and efficiently manage their participation in the initiative.

A Commitment to Sustainability

ADM’s expansion of the regenerative agriculture program aligns with its broader sustainability goals. The company aims to reduce absolute emissions by 25%, energy intensity by 15%, water intensity by 10%, and achieve a 90% landfill diversion rate by 2035. By supporting farmers in adopting sustainable practices, ADM takes a significant step towards mitigating environmental challenges and fostering a more sustainable food system.
