Sales of US retail and food services sales picked up in April, albeit at a slower pace, government data revealed.

QQQ is up 2.32%, while SPY is up 1.52%.
The monthly sales for the month stood at $677.7 billion, reflecting a 0.9% increase from the previous month and an 8.2% jump from the same month in the previous year.
Total sales for February through April climbed 10.8% from the same period in 2021, while the percent change for February to March was revised to 1.4% from 0.7% earlier announced.
Retail trade sales increased by 0.7% from the previous month and by 6.7% from the same month in 2021. Gasoline stations climbed 36.9% from the past year, while food services were up 19.8% year on year.
The latest growth is slower than the 1.4% increase in March when the monthly retail sales estimates stood at $671.6 billion.
