Thailand shares ended the trading session on Tuesday with the all-company Thailand SET Index closing at 1,393.28.
Gain Leaders
During the session, Thai Life Insurance, a financial services company, emerged as the top gainer with a 9.4% increase. Bangkok Chain Hospital, a health care/life sciences firm, also performed well, adding 4.8% to its shares. Delta Electronics, operating in the industrial goods sector, secured the third spot among gainers with a 4.6% increase.
Decline Leaders
Super Turtle, a media/entertainment firm, experienced the largest decline, with their shares falling by 12.8%. Dynasty Ceramic, a real estate/construction company, also saw a notable drop of 4.1%. Precious Shipping, a transportation/logistics company, witnessed a 3.9% decrease in shares.
Southeast Asia Overview
Moving on to the neighboring regions in Southeast Asia, Singapore’s FTSE Straits Times Index increased by 0.2%. Malaysia’s FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI remained steady with no significant change. The Philippines’ PSEi Index gained 0.7%, while Indonesia’s JSX Composite Index increased by 1.0%.
Asia-Pacific Region Overview
In other parts of the Asia-Pacific region, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell by 0.7%, and Japan’s NIKKEI 225 Index rose by 1.4%. The Shanghai Composite Index, representing Chinese companies, saw a slight increase of 0.1%.
The KOSPI Composite Index, composed of South Korean stocks, experienced a 0.1% increase, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Benchmark Index added 0.8%.
Currency Update
On the currency front, the exchange rate remained steady between the U.S. dollar and the Thai baht, with one U.S. dollar equaling 34.99 Thai baht. The euro, on the other hand, climbed 0.2% against the baht, reaching a rate of 38.30 baht.
