The economic sentiment remained sour in Europe in March, dripping by 5.3 points to an index of 107.5 in the EU.

In the euro area, the sentiment fell by 5.4 points to touch an index of 108.5, as consumer confidence continued to wane.
A consumer confidence decline of 9.4% reflected concerns of the general economic situations and financial conditions.
The industry confidence fell by 3.4 points to a one-year low, as managers’ production expectations declined due to Covid-19 concerns. Confidence improved in services, but remained relatively unchanged in construction.
The employment expectations fell by 1.1 points to an index of 114.9 in the EU. The index was down by 0.9 points to 115.5 in the euro area.
Among the EU’s largest economies, the economic sentiment fell the highest in France, Spain, and Germany. The sentiment improved slightly in the Netherlands.
