Classified documents may not be the only prized items to have been placed in storage at Donald Trump’s home and private membership club in Palm Beach, Fla. Surprisingly, ancient ceramic oil lamps belonging to the Israeli government have been stashed at the Palm Beach property for years – despite the Jewish state’s efforts to get them back.
Delayed Return Shocks Israel
The lamps were sent to the U.S. in late 2019 on the condition that they would be returned within weeks, as reported by Israeli newspaper Haaretz. Their purpose was to briefly be put on display in the White House for a Hanukkah candle-lighting event, but due to “a bureaucratic difficulty raised by the Americans,” the event never took place.
Instead of being promptly returned to Israel, the lamps found themselves in Florida, possibly alongside sensitive documents removed as Trump left office in January 2021.
Unforeseen Obstacles
A Temporary Custodian
It remains unclear when these artifacts will finally make their way back to Israel, but their unexpected detour to Trump’s Palm Beach property has certainly raised eyebrows and added an intriguing chapter to their story.
The Mysterious Lamps of the White House and Mar-a-Lago
In an intriguing turn of events, it has come to light that a pair of ancient lamps, said to hold historical significance, were discovered on former President Donald Trump’s Palm Beach property. The revelation came to light during Fox’s attendance at the 2019 Hanukkah event held at the White House, alongside Trump and his daughter Ivanka, who converted to Judaism prior to her marriage to Jared Kushner.
It remains uncertain whether Trump or anyone within his close circle was aware of the lamps’ presence on his property. Despite a request for comment from a New York Post representative, no response was provided by a representative of the former president.
It is worth noting that Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club recently made headlines when it became the target of a court-approved FBI search on August 8, 2022. During this search, agents confiscated numerous pages of classified documents, leading to a 37-count indictment against the former president.
As we await further developments on this fascinating story, it is imperative to mention that the U.S. has expressed its intention to rejoin UNESCO as a means of countering China’s influence. Additionally, it has been reported that a “compromise” trial date has been set for May 2024 regarding Trump’s Florida classified documents case. Meanwhile, former Vice President Mike Pence has called on Trump to apologize for attending a dinner with a Holocaust denier, citing “profoundly poor judgment.”
