Chinese firm Baidu will airdrop some 20,000 nonfungible tokens, given the high demand in the country even with its ongoing crackdown on the cryptocurrency space.
BIDU is down 3.66% premarket, BTC down 6.66%, ETH down 5.67%, and BNB down 6.60%.
The collection will feature tokens of Chinese cartoon characters buyers can use as avatars, including 8,888 unique tokens, which will be available from March 10 to 12 on Baidu’s “Super Chain” or “Xuper Chain.”
The collection will also include the popular Fox cartoon character “Ali” who celebrates his 16th birthday on March 16, along with 3,160 limited avatars in line with the celebration of the event.
Baidu earlier rolled out an NFT collection with an Olympic these in late February. Other major Chinese firms such as Tencent have also rolled out their own NFT marketplace, with high demand among Chinese netizens.
Daily sales of NFTs have reached $93 million daily as of March 9, with the highest level of transactions since early October at 77,185.
