APE is down 10.48%, while ETH is up 0.20%.
The announcement comes after Yuga Labs started the minting for Otherdeeds non-fungible tokens, but recorded issues involving pushing Ethereum gas fees with users paying some 2 to 5 ETH for gas.
Yuga Labs committed to refund the gas fees, but a number of users speculated that this was in line with a planned marketing stunt that could boost the announcement of a new APE chain.
ApeCoin DAO Board Member Yat Siu indicated that such is not the case, as Yuga Labs is pushing the DAO to consider the migration to a new chain and that there are no talks regarding the possibility of an APE chain.
The latest development drove the burning of some 55,817.38 ETH, bringing the Otherdeed NFTs on top of the burn leaderboard in the last week.
